Bond 23 becomes Skyfall – gallery and news

Written by Zen Terrelonge

The film formerly dubbed Bond 23 is now christened Skyfall.

Daniel Craig is back for the third time as the suave suited spy in Skyfall, but will it be his last? I recently reported on the speculation that Idris Elba may be taking over as James Bond.

Craig has won over many with his performance as the revamped agent since he was first cast, which yielded negative responses from fans and press alike.

Mostly because he’s ‘blonde’.

Spider-Man’s Sam Mendes will direct and claims there will be “lots of surprises”, while new acting talent includes Naomi Harris as field agent Eve despite initial reports that claimed she was to portray Moneypenny. Either way let’s hope she fares better than fellow agent Fields from Quantum of Solace.

In addition Javier Bardem will play the film’s villain, Bérénice Marlohe will play a Bond girl, Judi Dench returns as M and Ralph Fiennes is also set to star.

Filming will take place in China, Scotland and Turkey as the plot sees Bond’s loyalty tested when his mother-figure M has a series of secrets from the past escape. MI6 then comes under attack forcing 007 to end the threat no matter how personal the consequences.

Of Skyfall, franchise owners Wilson and Broccoli said: “We’re so delighted to have Sam Mendes direct Skyfall and be working once again with Daniel Craig.  We’ve a great script, an extraordinary cast and an incredibly talented creative team for this latest James Bond adventure.”

Adding together Mendes’ words about surprises, M’s old demons, and personal consequences, could Bond be forced to take down M in a shocking twist?

And for those still moaning about Craig as Bond and yearning for Sean Connery to return, have you been shaken or stirred? He’s 81-years-old.

Skyfall goes into production today Monday 7th November and will be released in the UK on 26th October 2012.

Perfect timing for M to be spooked by ghosts in the Halloween season.
