Following the ridiculous record-shattering success of Avengers Assemble, production has already begun on fellow Marvel movie Iron Man 3.

The threequel is directed by Shane Black this time, as Jon Favreau takes a back seat after taking charge on the previous two outings.

Production is taking place in North Carolina, Miami and China, while Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, and J-Fav are all set to return in the respective roles of Pepper Potts, James ‘Rhodey’ Rhodes, and Happy Hogan, as Robert Downey Jr, of course, returns as Iron Man/Tony Stark.

It will be interesting to see where the story goes, given that it will be the first post-Avengers film to be released, leaving Stark to go solo – not including War Machine/Rhodey – again without his new found teammates behind him.

What’s more, in The Avengers, Stark realised he isn’t quite as self-involved as he and the rest of the world believed, which leaves the door open to how he’ll be portrayed this time around.

But seeing as the film isn’t hitting cinemas until May 2013, there’s plenty of time for rusty superhero-based speculation to begin.
