Brave (formerly known as The Bear and the Bow) is the forthcoming Disney CGI number about a headstrong princess named Merida (Kelly Macdonald), who defies her Scottish kingdom’s traditions in a bid to make a name for herself, which causes magical mayhem.

A curse is laid upon the fire-haired royal and in a test to her bravery, she must find the courage to put an end to it before running out of time.

Other voice talent includes Billy Connolly, Emma Thompson, Julie Walters and Robbie Coltrane.

• Reese Witherspoon was originally poised to voice Merida.
