The Avengers official trailer

Marvel comic book flick The Avengers has indeed assembled with the release of the official trailer.

Captain America, Thor, Iron Man, Black Widow and Hawkeye team up to take out the newest threat to plague the planet.

It appears that the threat comes in the form of Thor’s brother Loki, but the Hulk has also been rumoured to be the film’s villain although confirmation of this is likely to be far off leaving speculation to fill the void.

All the cast return with their character aside from Edward Norton who portrayed Bruce Banner/The Hulk in The Incredible Hulk. The departure was announced when reprisal negotiations broke down.

We’ve seen Iron Man and Iron Man 2, The Incredible Hulk, Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger and now we just have to wait until May 2012 to see them all in action together.
