The Awakening stars Dominic West, Rebecca Hall and Imelda Staunton who I truly hope isn’t as irritating as her character was in Harry Potter.
It’s a supernatural thriller from director Nick Murphy, who is probably best known for his TV work, which includes Primeval.
The story takes place in England, post-World War One in 1921, following author and exposer of hoaxes Florence Cathcart (Hall) as she receives an invitation to investigate the rumours of a haunting at a countryside boarding school from headmaster Robert Mallory (West).
Believing she has proved the stories false, she soon realises she counted her chickens all too soon as she becomes the victim of a paranormal experience.
